i read mr. byrne’s actual statements and didn’t find them terribly alarming or unusual — aside from his FOOLISH AND MISGUIDED AND HURTFUL comparison that pedophiles and surgically altered people are going to be treated the same because they are similar?

sadly, much of what he said that will get lost was actually thoughtful and insightful.

so, mister byrne here’s how they are different — one is a personal exploration that doesn’t fuck up the lives of children who then will go off and abuse others forever.

and if we stand beside these beautiful creatures who are not unlike us, and we comfort them when they fail and when things get BOTCHED, what then? what of our kindness and our bravery?

but that’s how news works…

it’s important to realize that mr. byrne is THINKING out loud for an interview.
his grammar is very concise, as well. he never says that he feels it is wrong. he speaks directly to the sense of an abstract future in which many people will be in surgically-altered bodies.
he is asking us if we, those who support the quest for radical self identification, will feel guilty later when things can and will go horribly wrong.
BUT, unlike pedophiles, who are the victims of the transgendered?!?!?!
and this is where the comparison becomes hateful in the eyes of the transgendered person who is seeking self completion, not out to abuse and lie and destroy the life of another and start a cycle of unending monstrosity.
so yes, mr. byrne, we actually do respect and support pedophilia in this country. for instance, you probably know NOTHING about actual pedophilia to make this kind of comparison. or maybe you do.
and this kind of intentional ignorance and SCAPEGOATING of homosexuals and the transgendered is a carpet underbrushing. it’s bullshit, based on heretical ignorance and manipulation of actual facts.

you are proudly saying, "go ahead, let heterosexual males fiddle our kids, we don’t care as long as we can hate sexual deviance in homosexual and transgendered people."
anyway, i suggest you retract your comparison. it’s intellectually offensive and inaccurate.
but, beyond this inaccurate and hurtful comparison, as a gay man who has watched the society that i live in "toy" with the idea of socially accepting my "lifestyle" choice, all i can say is THANK YOU, mr. byrne for asking these questions.
someone needs to be asking them in a non-judgmental way.
we need real answers and we need support and people to get on board.
we need to stand up and say, YES, we know and understand the risks, we accept them!!!!
WE ACCEPT THEM!!!!

so stop pretending that something any different or the same is going to happen and you can figure it all out before it starts.
